Day to Day
Reporting to the VP of Business and Legal Affairs, we are seeking a talented, highly collaborative, and experienced in-house commercial lawyer to partner with the Consumer Products business across APAC for a 12-month contract. As part of the Business & Legal Affairs team, you will provide strategic legal support and guidance to category and creative teams across the Asia Pacific offices, working closely with legal counterparts in London and Los Angeles. No single day will be the same!
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a high volume of intellectual property licenses, service agreements, and other legal documents related to the licensing, distribution, promotion, and marketing of toys, apparel, books, and consumer goods.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including commercial category management, product development, creative, and finance.
- Prepare ad-hoc contracts and legal documents to address evolving business needs.
- Manage legal communications with external partners to facilitate deal closures and resolve outstanding issues efficiently.
You’ll Need
We would love to talk to you, if you have a Current Australia legal practicing certificate with 2-4 years post qualification experience in an in-house legal team or law firm that focusses on commercial matters. We would also happily consider solicitors or lawyers with active practicing certificated from other common-law jurisdictions if you have legal experience within a media company.
You will also be able to demonstrate experience across:
- Strong commercial and transactional legal experience, preferably within a global entertainment studio or media & entertainment company and ideally handling inbound and/or outbound licensing agreements.
- Excellent drafting skills with strong attention to detail and able to handle a heavy volume of drafting assignments with accuracy.
- Exceptional time management and organizational abilities, with a proactive and self motivated approach.
- Proven ability to provide practical, accurate, and timely legal advice.
- A collaborative, reliable, and responsive team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Solid understanding of intellectual property and contract law.
